Pauliana Valente Pimentel

In 2015 I was invited by the curator Marie Loffreda to develop a photographic project on Dubai. The aim was to build a visual memory, recording everyday situations, placing a photographic image between documentary and poetry, resulting in an eclectic mix of individuals, landscapes and interiors. I had the opportunity to come back to the United Arab Emirates in 2018, to come closer and get a deeper immersion on  the uses and costumes of the arab people. Visually what has fascinated me the most for a dream side, a plastic and not real side that is confused with a reality. I was particularly interested in photographing the sites, the Emirati and trying to touch a way they live their intimacy. I could not stay the same as this region evolved in so few years thanks to oil and commerce, sprouting from the sands of the Arabian Desert
